National Society Daughters of the American Revolution
Welcome to our Chapter
Established in 2000, our organizing members chose the name "Dry Lake Chapter" after a nearby heart-shaped, 90 square mile dry lake bed named Willcox Dry Lake, located in the Gadsden Purchase.
A railroad through Maley's Ranch originated the town name Maley. General Orlando B. Willcox, commander of the Military Department of Arizona, was on board the first train through, and received an ovation, and a town name change in his honor, November 23, 1889.
Whether called Playa de los Pimas, Playas, Soda Lake, Cochise, Alkali Flats, or just Dry Lake... it's a beautiful piece of our history.
